Growing up we built a lot of space station layouts...it was the main thing for a few years, so when I re-started building as an adult, a station...albeit a little more complete, was an easy choice!
On the top is a place for the smaller ships/shuttles to take off and be worked on:
The main/command floor hosts the bridge, sick bay, police post, lab, meeting area, and supply area for missions.
The lower decks have thicker walls...due to lack of pieces, but it also works well. It holds storage, engineering, galley, break room, and sleeping quarteres.
